When Christmas Comes To Cruden Bay

When Christmas Comes to Cruden Bay

Christmas in Cruden Bay is never just a day — it is a season shaped by community, tradition, and shared celebration. In 2025, that spirit was beautifully captured in the song and video “When Christmas Comes To Cruden Bay”, created by Crudenbay.life, a heartfelt tribute to everything that makes the village so special at this time of year.

The lyrics tell the story of Christmas unfolding across the village, beginning with the familiar and welcome sight of the Coast Guards erecting the festive lights along every street lampost. Their efforts once again transformed Cruden Bay into a place of warmth and colour during the darkest weeks of winter, setting the tone for the celebrations to come.

One of the first major highlights was the erection of the Christmas Tree on Main Street. This well-attended event brought villagers together for carol singing and festive cheer, marking the true start of the Christmas season. A week later, attention turned to the harbour for the lighting of the much-loved creel tree — a uniquely local tradition that continues to grow in popularity year after year.

The creel tree light-up was led by The Fiere Deems, the female voice choir from Cruden Bay Folk Club, whose singing echoed beautifully across the harbour. Their voices, joined by the community, created a memorable and atmospheric evening that perfectly reflected the heart of the village.

Another treasured tradition returned once again with the appearance of Santa Claus and his sleigh. Over two magical nights, Santa toured the village, delighting children and adults alike as families gathered outside to welcome him. On Christmas Eve, Santa made a special stop at the Kilmarnock Arms Hotel, where he met many of the village’s children. The evening was made even more festive by entertainment provided by the Cruden Bay Folk Club, ensuring laughter, music, and seasonal joy filled the hotel.

All of these moments — from the lights and trees to the songs, sleigh rides, and shared gatherings — are woven together in “When Christmas Comes To Cruden Bay.” Released during the festive period, the song and accompanying video were warmly received, admired by locals and viewers far beyond the village, and viewed over 13,000 times throughout the Christmas holidays.

It was another unforgettable month of celebration in Cruden Bay — a reminder that when Christmas comes here, it brings the whole village together.
