Hello Cruden Bay!

I wanted to introduce myself as I’ve just taken over the former grocery shop on Main Street.

Firstly, I’d like to thank George, Ruth, Nikki and everyone who has been part of the shop. It has served the village for many years, and I know it holds many happy memories for the community. I wish them every success in their next endeavour.

As someone who loves old buildings and their stories, I see this shop as more than just a business. It deserves to be loved and brought back to life while respecting the character that makes it so special.

Being in a conservation area, preserving the building’s heritage is incredibly important to me. My intention is to sympathetically restore and refresh the property, keeping it in harmony with the village. You won’t find bright colours or anything that feels out of place—my aim is simply to give the building the love and attention it deserves while allowing its original character to shine once again.

Of course, those who know me will know that I have a slightly eccentric side, so there may be the odd quirky touch here and there—but always with respect for the building, its history and the character of Cruden Bay.

The shop will become the new home of Cruden Bay Candle Boutique, offering handcrafted candles, home fragrances and a carefully selected range of gifts inspired by our beautiful coastline, Scottish folklore and the unique atmosphere of our village. My hope is to create a welcoming space that both locals and visitors will enjoy.

Thank you for the warm welcome I’ve already received. I can’t wait to open the doors.

But before that comes the hard work! Throughout the summer and some part of autumn months, you’ll probably spot me in the shop covered in dust, renovating, restoring and bringing the building back to life. It’ll certainly be a labour of love, and I’m looking forward to sharing the progress with you along the way.

For renovation updates and behind-the-scenes progress, please follow the Cruden Bay Candle Boutique Facebook page.

See you soon!
