    Mahina Dance

Mahina Dance is the stage name of Steph Flude, a transcultural belly dancer based in Northeast Aberdeenshire, Scotland. She specialises in FCBD® Style (formerly known as FatChanceBellyDance®), a group improvisational format of belly dance. Her dance practice blends cultural influences and spiritual symbolism, reflecting a deep connection to both movement and meaning.

    The Meaning Behind “Mahina”

The name “Mahina” is the Hawaiian word for the waxing crescent moon and also means “month” in Hindi. In Celtic Paganism, the waxing crescent symbolises the Maiden aspect of the Triple Goddess, representing vibrant, playful femininity and new beginnings. For Mahina, the name embodies her personal and spiritual journey, serving as a reminder to embrace each day with fresh energy and openness.

    Dance Offerings and Community

Mahina offers a variety of dance classes and events, including:

    • Transcultural Bellydance Classes

    • FCBD® Style Classes

    • Tribal Marmalade

She also performs at local events and collaborates with other troupes and artists. Her classes are welcoming to dancers of all levels and are held at venues like the MACBI Community Hub in Mintlaw.

    Creative Ventures

In addition to dance, Mahina creates handmade jewellery through her brand, Mahina Designs. Her pieces often reflect the same cultural and spiritual themes present in her dance work.
