The Port Erroll Heritage Group is a community-based organisation dedicated to preserving and promoting the rich history and cultural heritage of Port Erroll, the historic fishing quarter of Cruden Bay in Aberdeenshire, Scotland. Their mission is to safeguard the area’s maritime, architectural, and social history for both locals and visitors.

Activities and Initiatives

  • Historical Walking Routes: The group has developed heritage trails, such as the “Dracula Route,” which connects key historical sites like the Old Salmon Bothy, the Rocket House, and Slains Castle—believed to have inspired Bram Stoker’s Dracula.

  • Community Engagement: They actively involve the local community in heritage projects, fostering a sense of pride and continuity.

  • Educational Outreach: By providing information and resources, the group educates both residents and visitors about the area’s historical significance.
