Cruden Bay Community Council is a voluntary organisation established under the statutory framework provided by Aberdeenshire Council. It is composed of local residents who represent the interests of the Cruden Bay community. As the most local tier of elected representation, community councils like Cruden Bay’s play an important role in local democracy.
What Does Cruden Bay Community Council Do?
The council serves as a liaison between the community and local authorities, including Aberdeenshire Council. Its responsibilities include:
-
Representing the views of the community to local authorities and other public bodies.
-
Facilitating activities that promote the well-being of the community.
-
Bringing local people together to help make things happen.
-
Protecting and promoting the identity of the community.
-
Advising, petitioning, influencing, and advocating on behalf of the community.
Community councils are expected to be non-party political and non-sectarian, representing a full cross-section of the community and encouraging the involvement of people regardless of gender, race, age, disability, nationality, or sexual orientation.
